Error message when loading saved game: 'ED_alloc: No free edicts

Firstly, thanks for the HL VR mods! This bug is is a base game issue, I think. I get the 'No free edicts' error when trying to load a saved game. I have tried launching with -num_edicts 1500 and editing the liblist.gam file with edicts "1500" but these have not resolved the issue. Can you help? Thanks
